It’s the holidays and you need something simple to pack up for teachers or to snuggle up and eat for movies like this white chocolate peppermint popcorn.
This was a great opportunity to think up a new recipe in partnership with Orville Redenbacher’s!
When I was little we had a popcorn maker. It was tall and white and had a yellow top that the popcorn fell out of, but the most important part was a little tray on top that the butter melted in while the popcorn was popping so you could have it drizzled all over the popcorn. It was super cool and a big mess.
We currently use popcorn bags, which are so simple and still create the perfect pop, but I love the idea of one day having an air popper to bring back those childhood memories. I found THIS ONE for $43. Woohoo!! It’s Orville, of course but now we can use their bags or their kernels!
Remember the apple pie popcorn? While I tend to go for the smartpop!® I’m going to give it to you straight, Orville Redenbacher’s butter popcorn really does taste like real, buttery popcorn and not that weird chalky taste you sometimes get, so I’m sold on it now. Not to mention, any brand that is so family oriented gets bonus points. We love seeing families get passionate about things, hence a food blog run by both my husband and myself.
I saw this on Pinterest (couldn’t find a real source) and come on, you know it’s not just me!!! Orville Redenbacher’s is the only brand who uses real butter, and it’s so good you’ll be licking those buttery, shiny fingers to get every last bit!
Don’t stop there though, melt together butter, peppermint marshmallows, and sugar until smooth and pour it all over those buttery little kernels of deliciousness.
Now let’s melt down 4 ounces of white chocolate and pour it all over, sprinkling with tiny pieces of crushed peppermint candies and a few extra marshmallows for the squishy factor. Stir everything together and sprinkle a little more of the peppermint candies on top.
Store in airtight bags and you’re done! It’s such a great snack for parties, movies or to give to neighbors and friends. And the best part is, if you don’t feel like cooking you can package up the Orville Redenbacher’s microwave bag with all of the ingredients, tie a bow and attach directions. Your friends’ kids will love having a little project to keep busy over the school break and it feeds them white chocolate peppermint popcorn too so less begging for a snack. You’re welcome.
