    how long do you cook the noodles on the stove because I hate soggy noodles and I know in the oven that's extra cooking time ….

    Hmm  $15………Dried beans (your choice) and ham hock. Corn bread (your choice of style) or biscuits. Potatoes (regular or sweet  any style), any cheap green veg like cabbage or collards etc, bacon and bacon gravy, baked apple dumplings……all made from scratch = less than $15 :)

    Ya  can't go wrong with spaghetti (or fried chicken)! I'd probably make either of my favorite New Mexican dishes: green chile chicken enchilada casserole or red chile posole (pork and hominy stew).
