My local grocery store has a sandwich shop where you can make a sandwich however you like. I’m actually a pretty healthy eater, and my mom encourages me to keep it up. I would just like to know if I’m making good choices here.

So first of all, I don’t order the lunch meat anymore, because it just seems kind of unappealing to me nowadays. I get either the wheat or 9grain wheat bread. Then, I load up on the veggies—spring greens, tomatoes, cucumber, and shredded carrots. I also add a little bit of Swiss cheese; I know it has a lot of calories and fat, but it also adds protein and calcium. If I’m feeling crazy, I’ll add some avocado too. Finally, there’s a place where you can get packets of condiments, so I’ll usually add some a little packet of olive-canola oil blend and some black pepper.

It’s really tasty, but is it as healthy as it seems.

I can eat avocado with just a sprinkle of salt and/or lemon juice or heck even plain out the shell with a spoon. More avocado still isn't enough avocado!

I made the crunchy cucumber sandwich without the hummus. I used spicy guacamole and sprouts, it was so good. I'm addicted

You could hallow out the top loaf of the Muffaletta for a more manageable bite 🙂 I do this with large subs for my family. The meat and cheese fill out the missing bread portion perfectly

Just a tip: you are supposed to place a cast iron skillet on top of the muffaletta to make the thickness more manageable 😊. It also helps the sauce seep into the bread.

I made my husband and I the chicken ceasar clubs for lunch today. He texted me in the middle of the day (which he never does) saying "this sandwich is fan freaking tastic". And I agree! So simple but delicious. Thanks for the good idea!!
