It’s National Peach Month!! Have you ever had a fried peach? It’s like, WOW. Fried peaches are amazing. Gosh, that cinnamon sugary, fried sweet deliciousness.
Peaches always make me think of my mom’s Dutch Oven Cobbler, and Peach Crisp, which are two of the most wonderful parts of any camping trip or summer dinner.
My family loved to go camping growing up. I hate that we still have not taken our children, but the fact remains-my husband would rather die than go camping. Maybe not truly die, but pretty close. He is a cabin man. I am a tent girl. I think it’s fun to get all dirty, tired and explore nature, and the food is the best part. I don’t know if it’s from getting so tired from set up, hiking, building fires etc, or what, but I love dutch oven cooking.
These fried peaches remind me of the cobbler, camping days. Camping created such wonderful memories for my family. We played games, sang songs and always ended the night with a family campfire. These are the memories that we still love to talk. Every family needs to find a moment to head out to nature and “unplug”. Back in the day (ha! I can’t believe it really was so long ago) we didn’t have to “unplug” from anything, but we still needed to get away from life.
A little sprinkle of cinnamon sugar will help the peaches be lightly sweetened before going into the batter.
You’ll make a simple batter to dip the peaches in, but please make sure they are firm, but ripe peaches otherwise they will turn to mush or be too hard from being under-ripe.

What Oil is Best for Frying?
The oil should be peanut oil as that can handle frying the best, but vegetable or canola oil is fine as well. Olive oil may be healthier but it burns faster so please don’t use that.
What Temperature on the Stove For Frying Food
Generally you’ll want to fry foods at medium or medium high heat. Too hot and the batter could slip right off, while too cold and it will absorb too much oil and slip off and become gloopy. See below for how to know you’re ready. If the oil got too hot just take it off the heat versus turning down the temperature to cool it.
How to Know if Oil is Hot for Frying
Put the handle of a wooden spoon down to the bottom of the pan to test if the oil is hot. If it is you’ll see bubbles rise up all over the wood. Alternately you can always drop a little water into the pot and it should pop and sizzle.
Now, go grab a peach and let’s fry!
After frying, dredge the peach in cinnamon sugar and quickly top with ice cream, caramel and juicy raspberries.
It’s clearly getting a bit melty around here. 😉
Deep Fried Peaches and Ice Cream
Deep Fried Peaches and Ice Cream
Recipe type: dessert
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar
- 1 Large Egg
- ¾ Teaspoon Baking Powder
- ¼ Teaspoon Sea Salt
- 4 Large Peaches, sliced in half, pit removed
- Cinnamon sugar
- Peanut Oil
- Fresh Raspberries
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Fresh Whipped Cream
- Cinnamon Sugar
- Place the open peach halves on a cutting board and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Set aside for 30 minutes.
- Fill a pie dish or bowl with about ¾ Cup Cinnamon Sugar, set aside.
- Whisk together the flour, milk, sugar, egg, baking powder and sea salt. The batter should end up nice and smooth. Set aside.
- Fill a large pot with peanut oil (if you have allergies use Canola, peanut just heats up hotter and doesn’t burn as fast). Heat over medium high heat. Once the oil begins to pop and snap (drop a little water in or put a wooden spoon handle to the bottom to test it) you are ready to go.
- Add each peach half to the batter and coat evenly. Quickly lift out and let drip a little, add to the hot oil. Fry for about 3 minutes (I swear my stove heats weird so keep an eye on these), turning occasionally, until lightly golden.
- Immediately drop the peach in the reserved cinnamon sugar, turning to coat. Set into ice cream dishes, top with ice cream, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and fresh berries. Die and go to heaven, it’s that good.
